GMK Homes Limited undertakes construction and infrastructure work across residential and commercial sites and requires Pipe Works Technicians to install, maintain, and repair piping systems. These roles are essential to support construction projects, ensure efficient system operation, and maintain compliance with building and safety standards.

Position Title: Pipe Works Technician
Number of Positions: 2
Location: Auckland, New Zealand 
Pay Rate: $30 – $35 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

 

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience OR NZQF Level 4 qualification
  • And Must hold a digger/excavator operator licence

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes according to project specifications.
  • Install pipelines for water, gas, stormwater, or drainage systems.
  • Secure pipes using brackets, clamps, welding, or fastening methods.
  • Conduct pressure testing and inspections to identify leaks or faults.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on pipeline systems, valves, and fittings.
  • Troubleshoot and fix piping issues across construction sites.
  • Operate excavators (diggers) for trenching and site preparation.
  • Carry out excavation work safely for pipe installation projects.
  • Assist with ground preparation, trench alignment, and safe backfilling.
  • Ensure underground services are protected during excavation work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and specifications.
  • Use tools and machinery safely and maintain equipment.
  • Assist with installation of infrastructure systems on‑site.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and building regulations.
  • Ensure safe use of excavation equipment and piping tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite environment.
