Job Location: Auckland

Type: Permanent, Full time 

Days required: Rotating roster, including weekends

Hours per week: 32 hours per week

Hourly Pay: $28-35 per hour 

Analyses, develops and improves methods for the production, processing and preservation of existing and new food products, and sets standards for producing, packaging and marketing food.

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the Halal Assurance System [HAS] to meet certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate Halal certification documentation, including certificates, SOPs, production logs, and ingredient lists.
  • Designated company Halal Certification Officer
  • Oversee E-certificates and online portals for accreditation bodies and regulators.
  • Manage the audit process workflow in CRM, including new applications and renewals.
  • Schedule and manage auditor assignments and schedules.
  • Studies the properties of food to support the development of new products or to improve existing food products
  • Develops, manages and maintains quality systems for food processing
  • Designs and improves food processing and packaging methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensures food safety and quality by testing and analysing samples of raw materials, ingredients and finished products
  • Tests food products to ensure compliance with health regulatory frameworks and quality standards
  • Develops new methods for food preservation, such as freezing, canning and drying
  • Conducts research to create new food products and improve the quality, safety and nutritional value of food
  • Schedule and coordinate halal certification training sessions for employees and maintain training records.
  • Ensure product labelling complies with Halal standards.
  • Address inquiries from stakeholders regarding Halal certification and technical requirements.
  • Review risk management and food safety standards for applications.
  • Stay updated on Halal regulations and industry best practices, reporting changes that impact operations
  • Implement corrective actions and process improvements identified during audits.
  • Coordinate internal and external Halal audits, preparing materials and addressing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure Halal compliance in operations.
  • Conduct traceability exercises, risk assessments, and non-compliance investigations for tier one applications

Skills Required:

  • Minimum two years’ relevant experience OR a relevant qualification

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
