ABOUT THE ROLE
A wood machinist may do some or all of the following
- Interpret drawings, work orders, and sample parts to determine job specifications
- Identify tooling, machine requirements, and the correct sequence of operations
- Set up woodworking machinery and prepare timber stock for accurate cutting, planing, turning, shaping, and sanding
- Operate woodworking machinery to cut, plane, shape, turn, and sand workpieces to specification
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with workplace health and safety standards
- Conduct routine machine checks and basic maintenance where required
You will need:
- A relevant qualification or at least 2 years of industry experience
- Previous industrial experience
- Availability to work Monday to Friday and weekends
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- To be physically fit, punctual, and reliable
- A current clean police check
- To successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug and alcohol test
- On-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate.
