ABOUT THE ROLE

A wood machinist may do some or all of the following

  • Interpret drawings, work orders, and sample parts to determine job specifications
  • Identify tooling, machine requirements, and the correct sequence of operations
  • Set up woodworking machinery and prepare timber stock for accurate cutting, planing, turning, shaping, and sanding
  • Operate woodworking machinery to cut, plane, shape, turn, and sand workpieces to specification
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with workplace health and safety standards
  • Conduct routine machine checks and basic maintenance where required

You will need:

  • A relevant qualification or at least 2 years of industry experience
  • Previous industrial experience
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday and weekends
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • To be physically fit, punctual, and reliable
  • A current clean police check
  • To successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug and alcohol test
  • On-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate.
