Supercut Engineering Limited based in Auckland is a well-equipped steel structural facility offering a range of structural engineering services all around New Zealand. We are looking for one CNC Laser Cutting Technician to join our awesome team. 

You will be expected to work at the company’s premises in Onehunga, Auckland。 This role guarantees a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically from Monday to Friday. You may also be required to work on Saturdays, with total working hours of up to 60 hours per week. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $27.00 - $35.00 based on the candidates' experience and skills.

Job Description for This Position

• Studying production drawings, specifications, and cutting requirements to determine suitable materials, machining methods, cutting sequence, and machine settings.

• Setting up and operating CNC laser cutting machines to cut and shape metal sheets and components to required dimensions and tolerances.

• Adjusting machine parameters including laser power, cutting speed, gas pressure, focal position, and machine controls according to different metal materials and thicknesses, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.

• Importing, editing, and arranging cutting drawings using nesting and layout software to maximise material utilisation and production efficiency.

• Setting machine guides, cutting paths, and operational controls in accordance with production specifications and machining requirements.

• Performing loading and unloading of metal sheets and processed materials, including lifting, sorting, and handling finished components.

• Checking finished metal parts for dimensional accuracy, cutting quality, burrs, alignment, and tolerances using measuring tools and visual inspection methods.

• Diagnosing operational issues and adjusting machine settings to maintain cutting precision and production quality.

• Carrying out routine operational maintenance of CNC laser cutting equipment, including cleaning laser heads and protective lenses, replacing consumable parts such as nozzles and ceramic rings, and maintaining maintenance records.

• Assisting with maintaining safe workshop operations and ensuring machinery and equipment are operated in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures. 

Key Requirements for Successful Applicants

  • At least three years’ relevant work experience in operating metal machining equipment. 

  • Proficient in operating CNC laser cutting control systems and software, such as CypCut, Beckhoff, PowerMAX, or similar systems. 

  • Basic knowledge of CAD drafting software such as AutoCAD for simple drawing modifications and graphic editing is preferred.

  • Punctual and reliable with a positive can-do attitude will be key in this role.

  • A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress. 

  • Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
