Position Summary

NPNZ Construction Limited is seeking experienced and reliable Plasterer to join our growing team in Auckland. The successful applicant will be responsible for applying, finishing, and repairing plaster and related materials to internal and external surfaces of residential and commercial buildings, ensuring high-quality protective and decorative finishes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studying drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine materials and installation methods.
  • Measuring, marking, and cutting plasterboard, fibrous sheets, and mouldings to required dimensions.
  • Preparing wall and ceiling surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and removing old paint or plaster.
  • Fixing plasterboard sheets to walls and ceilings using screws, nails, adhesives, and other fixing methods.
  • Installing fibrous plaster components such as cornices, ceiling centres, panels, and decorative mouldings.
  • Mixing plaster, cement, and other compounds to the required consistency.
  • Applying coats of plaster to walls, ceilings, and partitions using trowels, floats, and spraying equipment.
  • Levelling, smoothing, and finishing surfaces to a high standard ready for painting or further finishing.
  • Sealing joints between plasterboard sheets and repairing cracks, holes, and damaged surfaces.
  • Applying texture coats, decorative finishes, and protective render to internal and external surfaces.
  • Erecting and dismantling basic scaffolding and work platforms as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Cleaning work areas and disposing of waste materials appropriately.
  • Performing other construction-related duties as reasonably required.

Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience in construction; or
  • A relevant qualification in plastering, construction, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of plastering materials, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical fitness.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various site conditions.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work safely at heights when required.
