Unicom New Zealand Limited is a New Zealand-based telecommunications and ICT services provider. We deliver a range of technology solutions to business clients, including internet and communication services, IT infrastructure, network solutions, cloud-related services, security systems and integrated ICT support.

Due to continued business development and growing demand for technology project delivery, we are looking for an experienced ICT Project Manager to join our Auckland team.

About the Role

The ICT Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering ICT projects for the company and its clients. This role will involve working with internal teams, external vendors, technical specialists and business stakeholders to ensure ICT projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with business requirements.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of technology projects across areas such as ICT infrastructure, network systems, business systems, cloud-based platforms, communication solutions and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Planning, managing and delivering ICT projects from initial planning through to implementation and completion.
  2. Defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets and resource requirements.
  3. Coordinating internal technical teams, external vendors, suppliers and business stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  4. Managing ICT project schedules, budgets, risks, issues and progress reporting.
  5. Analysing business and operational requirements and translating them into practical ICT project plans.
  6. Supporting the implementation and improvement of ICT systems, network infrastructure, communication platforms and business technology solutions.
  7. Monitoring project performance and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with agreed standards, timelines and client expectations.
  8. Liaising with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements, provide updates and resolve project-related issues.
  9. Preparing project documentation, including project plans, implementation schedules, status reports, risk registers and handover documents.
  10. Ensuring ICT projects comply with company policies, data security requirements and relevant technical standards.
  11. Reviewing completed projects and identifying opportunities for process improvement, system optimisation and better project delivery outcomes.
  12. Supporting the company’s broader technology development, service improvement and digital transformation initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, applicants should have:

  • A relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Business Information Systems or a related field;
  • Relevant experience in ICT project management, IT systems implementation, infrastructure projects or technology service delivery;
  • Good understanding of ICT systems, network infrastructure, cloud-based services, business systems or related technology solutions;
  • Strong project planning, coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, budgets and project risks;
  • Experience working with technical teams, vendors, suppliers or business clients;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred but Not Essential

  • Experience in telecommunications, ICT services, managed services, network solutions or systems integration;
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, business systems, cloud platforms, infrastructure deployment or digital transformation projects;
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies or tools;
  • Experience managing external suppliers or cross-functional project teams.
