Retail Buyer

A & N SERVICES LIMITED is looking for a Retail Buyer for a busy supermarket, Yogijis Food Mart in Tauranga.

Some of the daily tasks related to this position would be:

• Select and buys goods on behalf of the store. 
• Study trade, supplier, manufacturer, and market information to stay informed about changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
• Negotiate purchasing, supply, pricing, and promotional arrangements with suppliers and distributors.
• Liaise with management regarding long-term purchasing plans, seasonal product requirements, and sales promotions.
• Anticipate consumer trends and determine the quantity, style, quality, and variety of retail goods to be purchased.
• Inspect, compare, evaluate, and select retail goods based on quality, pricing, demand, and supplier reliability.
• Purchase retail goods through wholesalers, distributors, trade shows, supplier warehouses, and direct suppliers.
• When required, receive and assess product samples from suppliers and distributors before purchase decisions are made.
• Visit supplier facilities, distribution centres, and relevant industry events to source and evaluate new products.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier agreements, and inventory documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and retail industry standards.

Working on weekends and being available on calls are required for this position.

Offered Wage: $32 - $36 per hour (based on experience)
Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

This is a managerial role where you'll be handling the sole charge of the store's retail buying operations.

You should have at least 2-3 years of NZ relevant or retail work experience or a relevant qualification (NZ Level 5 or higher).

All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice check when required.
