We are seeking a capable and driven Retail Manager to take charge of all operational, commercial, and people functions at our Korean grocery store in Nelson. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who brings real experience in food retail management and is ready to step in, take ownership, and make a measurable difference.

This job is required to perform: (specific duty tasks)

  • Managing daily store operations to ensure efficient customer service and smooth workflow
  • Managing stock levels and arranging products to maintain store presentation standards
  • Ordering grocery products and communicating with suppliers regarding stock requirements
  • Setting prices and assisting with store promotions and marketing activities
  • Promoting the store’s products and services to customers
  • Providing customer service and assisting customers with product enquiries
  • Monitoring stock movement and maintaining sales and financial records
  • Preparing budgets and monitoring daily sales performance
  • Training and supervising staff to ensure smooth store operations
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and store policies
  • Handling customer complaints and resolving issues professionally
  • Coordinating deliveries and ensuring shelves are fully stocked

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

  • Minimum three years of experience in a relevant retail or food retail management role
  • OR
  • A Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both staff and customers
  • Proven ability to manage time, prioritise competing demands, and maintain high standards across all areas of store operation
  • Understanding of food safety practices and compliance requirements relevant to grocery retail
