As our business continues to grow, we are expanding our team in Te Atatū Peninsula, Auckland, and are seeking ONE qualified and motivated Electrical Engineering Technician to support our operations and contribute to the delivery of reliable and efficient HVAC electrical systems.

Position: Electrical Engineering Technician
Location: Te Atatū Peninsula, Auckland, New Zealand
Employment Type: Full-Time (Minimum 30 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $35.00 – $37.00 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Additional Requirement: Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare drawings, plans, and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry for HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and associated control equipment.
  • Assist engineers and technologists in the design, layout, and development of electrical systems and control circuitry for HVAC installations, including switchboards, motor controls, and cabling systems.
  • Collect operational data, conduct testing, and perform calculations relating to electrical systems, including voltage, current, and power measurements, and prepare reports, charts, and technical documentation.
  • Estimate material quantities and costs for electrical components and HVAC-related installations to support project planning and budgeting.
  • Inspect electrical designs and completed installations to ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, and New Zealand industry standards.
  • Assemble, install, test, calibrate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and components used in HVAC systems, including motors, thermostats, control panels, relays, and wiring systems.
  • Carry out workshop activities relating to HVAC electrical systems, including installation and maintenance of protection relays, metering devices, and monitoring equipment.
  • Assist in research, testing, and improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing HVAC electrical system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency. 

Key Requirements: 

  • A Minimum qualification of a Diploma OR
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in technical drawing, electrical installation, diagnostics, testing, and compliance procedures
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to workplace health and safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing hands-on technical work
