Baker

 

We are a busy bakery and takeaway based in Auckland and are currently looking for one experienced and motivated Baker to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about baking and committed to producing high-quality bakery products in a fast-paced environment.

 

This is a full-time, permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week. The role will be rostered between 4:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. You will be required to work weekends and public holidays as required to meet business operational needs.

 

Remuneration:

The pay rate will range according to market rate from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on skills, qualifications, and relevant work experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and baking a range of breads, cakes, pastries, pies, sausage rolls, and other baked products.
  • Preparing and mixing doughs, batters, fillings, and icings according to recipes.
  • Monitoring baking times, temperatures, and product quality to ensure consistency.
  • Decorating and finishing baked products as required.
  • Accurately weighing and measuring ingredients according to recipes and production requirements.
  • Maintaining stock levels of baking ingredients and reporting shortages.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient bakery work area.
  • Assisting with the training and support of junior bakery staff as required.
  • Assisting with the development and improvement of bakery products and recipes as required.
  • Working collaboratively with other team members to meet daily production requirements.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ideally prefer at least 3 years of relevant work experience as a baker/pastrycook/baker assistant, but we also consider applicant with at least 2 years of relevant work experience, or
  • A level 4 qualification in Baking or Pastries
  • Previous experience working in a commercial bakery environment is preferred.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug test and have a clean criminal record.
