We are seeking a skilled Carpenter in Auckland to carry out maintenance carpentry job under Kāinga Ora contracts for Solomon Investments Limited.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to undertake maintenance, repair, and remedial carpentry works as part of our Kāinga Ora maintenance contracts within Solomon Investments Limited, based in Auckland. The ideal candidate will have strong residential carpentry experience, excellent workmanship standards, and the ability to work independently while maintaining positive relationships with supervisors, tenants, clients, and other trades. Experience working within Kāinga Ora maintenance programmes, social housing environments, or property maintenance systems will be highly regarded.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders

  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other building materials

  • Construct, install, repair, and renovate building structures and fixtures

  • Carry out maintenance and remedial works on occupied and vacant residential properties

  • Install doors, windows, flooring, wall linings, cladding, skirting boards, architraves, and other building components

  • Perform framing, decking, fencing, roofing, and general carpentry works as required

  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with the New Zealand Building Code and company quality standards

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised worksite

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, clients, tenants, subcontractors, and other trades

  • Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures

 

 Qualification and skills: 

  • Sound knowledge of carpentry and general building practices

  • A minimum of two years' relevant carpentry experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high workmanship standards

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence preferred

  • Clean criminal record preferred

  • Ability to speak fluent English is required, ability to speak Mandarin preferred

  • Previous experience delivering maintenance works for Kāinga Ora maintenance contracts is preferred
