Position:  Food Technologist

Job Location: Auckland

Type: Permanent, Full time 

Days required: Rotating roster, including weekends

Hours per week: 35 to 40 hours per week

Hourly Pay: $35-45 per hour 

Balaji Foods & Sweets is seeking a qualified and experienced Food Technologist to support product development, quality assurance, and food safety compliance within our food manufacturing operations in Auckland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve new and existing food products (sweets, snacks, and processed foods)
  • Conduct laboratory and production trials to evaluate flavour, texture, shelf life, and nutritional composition
  • Analyse raw materials and finished products to ensure quality and compliance
  • Advise on food processing, preservation, packaging, and storage methods
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance systems and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP)
  • Ensure compliance with New Zealand food regulations and industry standards
  • Support production teams with process optimisation and troubleshooting
  • Conduct research into new ingredients, technologies, and product innovations
  • Develop and improve new and existing food products (sweets, savouries, snacks, and processed foods)

Skills requirements:

  • Minimum two years’ relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Technology, Food science or related field 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.

  • Good analytical, problem solving and communication skills

  • Multilingual candidates preferred
