Department Managers and Butchers

Our client is looking for a Fresh Produce Manager, a Deli & Bakery Manager, & Butchers for our busy supermarket in Wellington. 

For Fresh Produce Manager role, some of the daily tasks would be:

  • Organise and control the operations of the Fresh Produce department
  • Manage and organise the product mix of the Fresh Produce department
  • Managing current vendors for the fresh produce items and creating new vendors for the food supplies. 
  • Check, manage and oversee stock levels and service standards of the Fresh Produce department
  • Draft and implement the department's marketing policies for the Fresh Produce department
  • Set product prices in the Fresh Produce department
  • Draft, handle and manage the department's promotion and advertisement of products and services
  • Ensure and oversee sales of items and revenue generation for the allocated department
  • Handle and control department budgets, oversee outgoing and report on receivables
  • Manage relationships with the existing vendors and find & develop new vendors
  • Handle customer service, including complaints related to the Fresh Produce department
  • Handle and control cash transaction reports and receipts for the Fresh Produce department
  • Interview, train, supervise new staff and conduct the performance reviews of the Fresh Produce department
  • Ensure the Fresh Produce department is meeting all the required compliance and Health & Safety standards

Working on weekends and being available on calls are required for this position.

Offered Wage: $35 - $70 per hour (based on experience & skills)
Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

This is a managerial role where you'll be handling the sole charge of the department.

Making new vendors and maintaining relationships with the current ones is an essential part of this role. You should be able to meet the KPIs and generate profitability within the given department. 

You should have at least 2-5 years of relevant or retail work experience or a relevant qualification (bachelor's degree or higher). 

All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice check when required.

For the Butcher role, some of the daily tasks related to this role would be:

  • Prepare meat by taking out bones, trimming fat, and cutting or mincing it into the right shapes and sizes for sale or as requested.
  • Make crumbed meats and add marinades, spices, or curing for special cuts.
  • Choose and prepare meats to make smallgoods (like sausages or deli meats, etc.).
  • Use machines to grind, mix, mince, and soften meat.
  • Use machines to fill sausages and equipment to smoke or cook meats.
  • Help customers by recommending meat cuts and how to use them.

Offered wage rate: $30 - $40 per hour (based on experience and skills)
Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.

You should have at least 1-3 year of relevant work experience.

You should be able to provide previous work references.
You should be physically fit to lift at least 20 kg of weight.

Working on weekends, late night and be available on-calls are required for this position.
All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice check when required.
