We are a Christchurch-based warehousing, distribution, and sales business specialising in Asian food products. We provide storage, freight handling, logistics, and distribution services for a wide range of imported frozen, chilled, and dry food products throughout the South Island. Our warehouse and distribution centre handles large volumes of goods supplied to supermarkets, retailers, wholesalers, and food service businesses across South Island.
Due to continued business growth, we are seeking experienced Forklift Drivers to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

$30.00 – $34.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load, unload, transport, stack, and retrieve goods and materials within warehouse and storage facilities.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers while ensuring goods are handled safely and securely.
- Handle a wide range of products, including oversized freight, fragile goods, and temperature-controlled products, ensuring they are transported and stored without damage.
- Transport stock and materials between receiving, storage, production, and dispatch areas.
- Organise and store goods in designated warehouse locations to maximise storage efficiency and ensure products can be accurately identified and retrieved.
- Operate forklifts in confined warehouse environments, narrow aisles, and high-racking storage systems, including the storage and retrieval of goods at heights of more than 6 metres.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of forklifts and equipment to identify wear, damage, faults, or safety concerns.
- Monitor forklift performance through gauges, indicators, and operational checks to ensure equipment is functioning correctly.
- Carry out routine servicing, minor repairs, and adjustments to forklifts and associated equipment where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements, equipment inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Assist with inventory control, stocktaking, and warehouse organisation.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and company operating procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse duties and other related tasks as reasonably directed by management.
Skills and Experience Required
Applicants must have:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience;
- Demonstrated experience loading and unloading shipping containers and handling high-volume freight movements.
- Experience operating forklifts around oversized, heavy, and fragile products.
- Experience handling temperature-controlled or cold-chain products.
- Proven ability to safely operate forklifts in warehouses with high-racking systems, including stock placement and retrieval at heights of more than 6 metres.
- Strong spatial awareness and confidence operating forklifts in confined warehouse environments and narrow aisles.
- A current New Zealand Driver Licence with a valid F Endorsement.
- A current Forklift Operator Certificate.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, freight handling procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A reliable work ethic, strong attention to detail, and commitment to safe work practices.
- The ability to read and understand written Chinese would be a significant advantage, as many product labels, shipping documents, packing lists, and supplier documentation are provided in Chinese.
- Be able to provide written reference(s) from previous employer(s) for reference checking purposes.
