Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours per week, to be worked between 7:30am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday

Salary Range: NZD $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

About Us

We are a well-established horticultural business specialising in plant propagation and nursery production. We are committed to producing high-quality plants through industry-leading propagation and nursery management practices.

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Nursery Person to join our propagation team. This role involves working across all areas of the propagation department and assisting with the general production of nursery plants.


Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of potting media

• Utilise tray and pot filling machines

• Harvest cuttings for propagation

• Plant cuttings, seed and tissue culture in trays and pots

• Assist with the grading and packing of orders

• Assist with general nursery work including potting, spacing and maintenance

• Undertake crop spraying

• Assist with manual and computer-controlled irrigation

• Record plantings, sprays, pot-ups, spacing activities and plant numbers in the ERP system

• Ensure a clean and tidy workspace

• Maintain a positive attitude towards Health, Safety and Environmental requirements

• Perform other related duties as reasonably required by management


Job Requirements

• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a plant nursery

• Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting, bending and handling materials

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

• A resourceful team player with the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues

• High attention to detail and accuracy, together with good communication skills

• Ability to work unsupervised and use initiative

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
