RESTATE is launching in Christchurch and is looking for a hands-on technician/operator to help establish and grow the branch. This hybrid role includes practical restoration work, customer communication, site inspections, quoting support, local marketing, sales activity, and brand building. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, including travel to Auckland for training. Ideal for someone practical, proactive, customer-focused, and ready to help build something from the ground up.

Help Build RESTATE Christchurch From the Ground Up

RESTATE Property Restoration is expanding into Christchurch, and we are looking for the right person to help establish and grow our new branch.

This is not a standard technician role.

We mostly need someone who is ready to get stuck into hands-on restoration work, but this role will also involve customer communication, site inspections, quoting support, relationship building, local marketing, sales activity, and helping build the RESTATE brand in a new region.

If you are practical, reliable, proactive, good with people, and interested in being part of something from the start, this could be a major opportunity.

About RESTATE

RESTATE Property Restoration is a 100% New Zealand-owned company helping people recover after water damage, fire, mould, contamination, trauma, and other property damage events.

We provide specialist restoration services for homeowners, businesses, insurers, property managers, facilities managers, builders, plumbers, body corporates, and commercial clients.

We are now expanding into Christchurch and looking for someone who wants more than just a job. We want someone who can help us build a strong local branch.

About the Role

This is a hybrid hands-on technician and branch development role.

In the early stages, work may be patchy while the branch is being established. That means the right person will need to be proactive, flexible, and willing to help generate activity, build relationships, support marketing, meet clients, inspect jobs, assist with quoting, and represent RESTATE professionally in the Christchurch market.

You will not be expected to do this alone.

For the right candidate, we will support travel to Auckland for training with our established team. Training and support will continue after that. You will have regular director and manager-level support while the Christchurch branch grows and becomes established.

What You’ll Be Doing

The role will include a mix of:

  • Attending hands-on property restoration jobs in Christchurch
  • Helping with water damage, fire damage, mould, contamination, trauma, and specialist cleaning work
  • Setting up drying, air filtration, cleaning, and restoration equipment
  • Carrying out site inspections and gathering job information
  • Taking photos, notes, moisture readings, and job updates
  • Supporting quotes, scopes, and customer communication
  • Meeting clients, property managers, trades, and local referral partners
  • Helping with local marketing, advertising, and brand awareness
  • Following up leads and helping convert opportunities into jobs
  • Building relationships with insurers, assessors, builders, plumbers, property managers, body corporates, and commercial clients
  • Maintaining equipment, vehicles, and job readiness
  • Working closely with the Auckland team, directors, and managers as the branch grows

Who This Role Could Suit

This role could suit someone from:

  • Property restoration
  • Flood response or structural drying
  • Carpet cleaning or specialist cleaning
  • Mould remediation or decontamination
  • Fire, smoke, or odour restoration
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Building services
  • Insurance repair or make-safe work
  • Trade support or construction
  • Pest control or hygiene services
  • Sales or account management with practical hands-on ability
  • Operations coordination or small team leadership
  • A trade or service background where you have dealt directly with customers

Direct restoration experience is helpful, but not essential for the right person.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, reliable, and willing to work hands-on
  • Proactive and comfortable working in a start-up branch environment
  • Good with customers and confident communicating professionally
  • Capable of inspecting jobs and gathering clear site information
  • Comfortable helping with quotes, scopes, and job notes
  • Interested in local sales, marketing, and relationship building
  • Able to work independently while staying connected with the wider team
  • Comfortable with physical work and varied site conditions
  • Able to follow systems, safety processes, and job instructions
  • Willing to learn specialist restoration methods and equipment
  • Comfortable using a phone, apps, photos, and job management systems
  • Legally entitled to work full-time in New Zealand
  • Holding a full New Zealand driver licence

The Reality of the Role

This is an early-stage branch role.

At the start, the work may not be constant every day. Some weeks may involve more hands-on restoration work. Other weeks may involve more marketing, sales calls, site visits, relationship building, training, equipment preparation, and follow-up activity.

You will need to be self-motivated and willing to help create momentum.

This role will suit someone who likes variety, takes ownership, and wants to be rewarded for helping grow a successful branch.

It will not suit someone who only wants to wait for jobs to be handed to them.

Training and Support

We will not leave you to figure it out alone.

For the right candidate, RESTATE will support travel to Auckland for hands-on training with our established team. You will learn our systems, equipment, customer standards, job processes, and restoration methods.

Ongoing support will continue after training, including:

  • Regular director and manager-level support
  • Technical guidance on jobs
  • Help with quoting and scopes
  • Sales and marketing support
  • Operational systems and templates
  • Remote support from the Auckland team
  • Ongoing development as the Christchurch branch grows

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive base pay
  • Performance-based incentives linked to effort, results, and branch growth
  • Full training and ongoing support
  • Travel to Auckland for training, where required
  • Opportunity to help establish a new Christchurch branch
  • Real career growth as the branch grows
  • Varied hands-on, technical, sales, and operational work
  • Support from experienced directors, managers, and technicians
  • Opportunity to build strong local relationships
  • Be part of a growing New Zealand-owned restoration company

Career and Growth Opportunity

This role has genuine long-term potential.

The right person could grow with the Christchurch branch into a senior technician, lead technician, branch operator, operations manager, branch manager, or future franchise pathway.

We are looking for someone who wants to help build the branch, not just work in it.

If you put in the effort, help grow the brand, look after customers, and help establish RESTATE in Christchurch, we want that success to be recognised.

Why This Role Is Different

Most technician jobs are purely hands-on.

This one is different because you will be involved in building the local presence from the start.

You will have the chance to learn the technical side of restoration, represent the brand, meet clients, help win work, support quotes, build relationships, and grow into a leadership role as the branch develops.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to get in early and help shape the future of RESTATE Christchurch.
