Are you looking for an interesting machine operation role, using your tooling and CAM skills?

 CAD/CAM focus | Flatbed CNC
Our East Tamaki client is looking for an experienced CNC Machine Operator with strong CAM skills and confidence in tooling, setup, and hands‑on machine operation. This role suits someone who enjoys problem‑solving, precision work, and taking ownership of the full machining process from setup to finished product.

About the Role You’ll be operating a flatbed CNC machine, handling everything from tooling and setup through to production runs and quality checks. While the role is primarily CAM‑focused, there may be a small amount of design or design‑tweaking involved, so experience with SketchUp or SolidWorks is a bonus.

This is a practical, on‑the‑floor role where you’ll be working closely with production and design teams to ensure accurate, high‑quality output.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a flatbed CNC machine
  • Complete tooling changes, calibrations, and machine adjustments
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and CAM files
  • Prepare and optimise CAM programs for efficient production
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and ensure smooth workflow
  • Perform quality checks and ensure accuracy of finished parts
  • Work with design files and make minor design tweaks when required
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machine Operator (flatbed experience ideal)
  • Strong CAM skills (CAD knowledge helpful but not essential)
  • Experience with SketchUp, SolidWorks, or similar design software
  • Confident with tooling, setup, offsets, and machine calibration
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, hands‑on, and able to work independently
Why Apply?
  • Stable, long‑term opportunity with a respected East Tamaki manufacturer
  • Hands‑on, varied role with plenty of technical challenge
  • Supportive team and great workshop environment
  • Opportunity to grow your CNC and CAM skills further
You must be in NZ with the right to ongoing work to apply
