The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our production team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a critical part in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing processes.

You will be responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, and improvement of our mechanical systems. Working closely with our production and engineering teams, you will help us maintain our high standards of quality and precision in a dynamic workshop environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers with the installation, testing, calibration, and routine maintenance of mechanical equipment, such as CNC machines, edge banders, panel saws, and drilling systems
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting on mechanical equipment and production line tools to ensure minimal downtime
  • Interpret technical drawings and production schematics to support the layout and configuration of machinery
  • Adjust and fine-tune production equipment to maintain accuracy and quality in joinery outputs
  • Support the team in the modification and upgrade of production processes and mechanical tools
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports of equipment servicing, performance, and repairs
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production line efficiency, ergonomics, and safety
  • Provide technical assistance during the installation of new machinery or when setting up new production runs
  • Comply with health and safety procedures and ensure safe working conditions when operating or repairing mechanical systems

 

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • A New Zealand Level 5 or 6 Diploma (or overseas equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with mechanical systems in a manufacturing or joinery environment
  • Hands-on knowledge of CNC-controlled woodworking machinery is highly desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical specifications
  • Proficiency with mechanical diagnostics tools and maintenance techniques
  • Strong understanding of safety and compliance standards in workshop settings
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
