We're searching for a motivated Sawmill Operator / General Hand to join a busy Christchurch sawmill
Ready to step into a role where hard work gets noticed and leadership opportunities are earned?
If you're someone who likes to take charge, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to build a long-term career rather than just have a job, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
We're searching for a motivated Sawmill Operator / General Hand to join a busy Christchurch sawmill. This is a physically active role where you'll learn practical skills, operate machinery, and become a key part of a hardworking team. More importantly, we're looking for someone with the potential to grow – a future leader who can take ownership, show initiative, and help drive the team forward.
What you'll get:
  • $25 per hour plus 8% holiday pay
  • Stable day shift hours – keep your evenings free
  • Harewood location with consistent ongoing work
  • Full training provided on sawmill machinery and processes
  • A physically active role where the days go fast
  • The opportunity to develop valuable industrial and machinery skills
  • Career growth for someone looking to step up, take responsibility, and develop leadership skills
What the role involves:
  • Operating and learning sawmill machinery
  • Working on sorting lines and timber stackers
  • Assisting with blade changes and basic maintenance
  • Keeping work areas clean, organised, and safe
  • Supporting the wider production team as needed
  • Taking initiative and helping maintain efficient production flow
What we're looking for:
  • Someone physically fit and comfortable with demanding work
  • A reliable worker with a strong attitude and work ethic
  • Good awareness and common sense in a busy industrial environment
  • A willingness to learn new machinery and processes
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team and getting the job done
  • A person who naturally takes ownership and isn't afraid to step up when needed
  • Someone with leadership potential who wants to grow into greater responsibility over time
If you're dependable, motivated, and looking for a role where you can develop practical skills while building a pathway toward leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
