Role Purpose
To develop, implement, and evaluate marketing and fundraising strategies that strengthen and grow the sanctuary’s income streams, ensuring sustainable financial support for rescued animals and community programmes.
This is a fulltime role with a minimum of 30 hours/week gauranteed.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement integrated fundraising campaigns across digital, retail, events, and community channels.

Strengthen existing income streams including op shops, sponsorships, merchandise, and donation drives.

Identify and develop new ethical fundraising opportunities aligned with sanctuary values.

Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies accordingly.

Research and prepare grant applications to local and national funders.

Support philanthropic relationship-building and donor engagement initiatives.

Assist in developing legacy giving and bequest communications.

Develop marketing materials, website content, and social media messaging to support fundraising goals.

Craft compelling storytelling about the sanctuary’s impact.

Maintain consistent donor and supporter communications.

Maintain CRM and donor databases.

Track fundraising performance and prepare regular reports.

Support development of efficient and sustainable fundraising systems.

Work collaboratively with opshop managers, volunteers, and sanctuary staff to coordinate income-generating activities.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
-
A Bachelor’s degree or higher level qualification in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.

1 year of experience building relationships, partnerships, or networks within NGO, charity, community, or social impact environments will be a great advantage for this role.

Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate campaigns, events, or fundraising initiatives.

Strong written communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling stories and supporter communications.

Confidence using digital tools such as websites, social media platforms, CRM databases, or similar systems.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable

Experience writing or contributing to grant applications.

Experience in community organising, activism, or grassroots fundraising.

Familiarity with ethical or values-led fundraising practices.

Alignment with vegan, queer, feminist, and anti-oppression values.
