Position Purpose
The Shepherd General is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management and operation of a sheep and beef farming enterprise. The role involves livestock handling, animal health, pasture management, fencing and general farm duties.
- Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed with additional hours required duing busy seasonal periods such as lambing, calving & shearing.
Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement:

- Must have a driver licence
Key Responsiilities:
- Mustering and moving sheep and cattle using motorbikes and working dogs.
- Monitoring livestock condition and reporting animal health concerns.
- Assisting with animal health treatments including drenching, vaccinating, dagging, crutching and administering routine treatments.
- Weighing, drafting and yarding livestock for sale, transport or treatment.
- Feeding out supplements and monitoring feed levels and pasture conditions.
- Repairing and maintaining fences, gates, water systems and farm infrastructure.
- Operating and maintaining farm vehicles, motorcycles, tractors and farm machinery
safely. - Assisting with weed and pest control programmes.
- Maintaining accurate records relating to stock movements, treatments and farm activities as required.
- Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Carrying out general farm maintenance and other duties associated with a sheep and
beef farming operation.
