We Dance Limited is looking for an experienced and passionate Dance Teacher (Ballet) to join our team in Auckland.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality ballet and related dance classes for students of different ages and levels. You will help students develop their technique, confidence and artistry, and prepare them for performances, graded examinations, competitions and school events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver ballet and other assigned dance classes according to students’ age and ability.
  • Develop lesson plans, choreography and class content in line with the school’s curriculum and standards.
  • Assess and monitor students’ progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Prepare students for performances, RAD / NZAMD graded examinations, competitions and events.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive and disciplined learning environment.
  • Record attendance and maintain student administration through the school’s official systems.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents and caregivers through the school’s official communication channels.
  • Support school recitals, workshops, open days and other student-related activities.
  • Maintain studio equipment, props and facilities, and report any maintenance or safety issues.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the employer.

Requirements

Applicants must have either:

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in ballet teaching or dance teaching; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in dance, performing arts, education, or a related field.

Applicants with following qualification and experience would an advantage:

  • Formal training and/or recognised qualification in classical ballet, such as RAD or equivalent
  • Experience in teaching ballet to students across different ages and levels.
  • Ability to prepare students for recognised graded ballet examinations, including RAD and/or NZAMD where required.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
  • A strong commitment to child safety, confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Good team player
