INVOTECH ELECTRICAL & DATA COMMUNICATION LIMITED T/A THE LIGHTING WAREHOUSE provides electrical, data communication, lighting, and building-services support for residential and commercial projects. We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team in New Lynn, Auckland.
About the role
The Electrical Engineering Technician will support the company’s electrical, data communication, lighting, and building-services projects by assisting with electrical drawings, wiring layouts, testing, installation support, fault finding, maintenance, and technical documentation. The role involves working with electrical systems, control circuits, switchboards, cabling, meters, relays, and related components to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in line with technical specifications and relevant standards.
Key Duties
- Prepare electrical drawings, wiring layouts, circuit diagrams, and technical documents.
- Assist with the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems, control circuits, switchboards, cabling, lighting, and related equipment.
- Collect technical data, carry out basic electrical calculations, and prepare reports.
- Estimate materials, equipment, and costs for electrical installation work.
- Inspect electrical equipment and completed installations for technical, safety, and quality compliance.
- Install, test, calibrate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, control panels, relays, meters, wiring systems, and related components.
- Assist with fault finding, diagnostics, commissioning, and improvement of electrical systems.
- Maintain test results, inspection notes, and job records.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have either:
- A relevant qualification in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a related field; or
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician.
- Ability to read technical plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Good attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and willing to perform hands-on technical work.
