Company Overview

Excellent opportunity to join a successful and well-established Auckland based trading company and become a part of a great team.

Job Summary

Reporting to senior management, the Database Administrator will be responsible for
planning, building, configuring and supporting the database systems that power our import- export operations. The role ensures that our trading, inventory, CRM and finance databases run with strong integrity, reliable performance, robust security and dependable backup and recovery — in line with both internal business requirements and the demands of cross-border data exchange with our overseas partners.

This is a hands-on technical role with strong cross-functional exposure. The successful
candidate will work closely with business teams, external IT vendors and overseas branches
to translate commercial requirements into well-designed, well-governed data systems.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan, build, configure and provide ongoing support for the company's database
management systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements across trading,
inventory, CRM and finance functions.
• Develop and maintain the underlying database architecture, including data
structures, tables, data dictionaries and naming conventions, so that master data
covering products, customers, suppliers and transactions remains accurate and
complete.
• Establish and operate routine backup, archival and disaster-recovery procedures,
and enforce security and data-integrity controls to protect commercially sensitive
trading data.
• Define and roll out database documentation, operating guidelines, standards and procedures, and ensure they are consistently followed across internal teams and
external partners.
• Carry out testing of new database systems and upgrades — including debugging,
issue reproduction, logging, tracking and resolution — in accordance with approved
quality-assurance scripts and processes.
• Monitor and tune database performance and capacity on an ongoing basis, identify
bottlenecks, and plan for future expansion as transaction volumes and overseas
business grow.
• Design, coordinate and implement security measures — including access controls,
encryption and audit trails — to safeguard the database environment from internal
and external risks.
• Liaise with business stakeholders, overseas branches and external software vendors
to translate business needs into database requirements, and support the integration
of databases with trading, ERP and reporting platforms.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards and ad-hoc data extracts to support
commercial decision-making in pricing, sourcing, inventory and customer
management.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

within a multi-branch or cross-border business environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating ICT and data system
implementation projects through the full delivery lifecycle, including requirements
analysis, vendor management and user acceptance.
• Proven ability to design and maintain data governance frameworks, data quality
monitoring and master data structures.
