Machine Operator

We’re partnering with a well-established NZ manufacturer to recruit a Machine Operator for their Ashburton team, producing plastic packaging for the food industry.
 
This is a hands-on, technical role where you’ll be right in the mix - supporting production, improving processes, and helping ensure everything runs efficiently day to day.
 
About the Role
Working as part of a close-knit production team, you’ll be responsible for setting, maintaining, and optimising machinery, while ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met.
 
This is a busy, practical role where you’ll be involved in:
  • Setting and optimising plastics processing machinery
  • Carrying out mould and tool changes, including full line changeovers
  • Monitoring and adjusting production to maximise efficiency and quality
  • Troubleshooting faults and minimising downtime
  • Completing routine maintenance and supporting plant performance
  • Working closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness
About you
You’ll enjoy being hands-on, take pride in your work, and be someone who can stay organised and focused in a fast-paced environment.
 
You’ll bring:
  • Experience in manufacturing or plastics processing (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience with mould/tool changes and production line changeover
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work as part of a team
