Cambium Group Limited seeks Machine Operators to operate horticultural machinery and support orchard operations in the Bay of Plenty. The role focuses on safe machinery use and seasonal work, and does not involve forklift operation. These roles are essential to support daily orchard operations, seasonal programmes, and efficient use of machinery across multiple sites.

Position Title: Machine Operator
Number of Positions: 3
Location: Bay of Plenty Region
Pay Rate: $26 – $32 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

Key Requirements

  • At least 3 Year's of Experience OR Level 4 Qualification.

Other Requirement

  • New Zealand Class 1 or Equivalent International Driver's License Required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tractors, mowers, mulchers, sprayers (where certified), and other horticultural machinery.
  • Support orchard activities such as mowing, mulching, spraying, cultivation, and block preparation.
  • Transport bins, materials, and equipment safely across orchard sites.
  • Assist harvest operations including bin movement and site setup.
  • Perform pre‑start checks, routine cleaning, and basic machinery maintenance.
  • Identify and report machinery faults or safety hazards promptly.
  • Follow all orchard health & safety, traffic management, and operating procedures.
  • Work closely with supervisors to complete seasonal programmes efficiently.
  • Assist with irrigation, orchard maintenance, and general horticultural tasks when required.
  • Maintain basic records of machinery use and completed work.

 

Please note: This role does not include forklift operation.OSH forklift operator certification is not required for this position.
