Position Overview

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail Assistants to join our team in Auckland.

The successful candidates will assist with daily store operations, customer service, sales transactions, stock management, product displays and general retail activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, has good communication skills and can work effectively in a busy retail environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to customers visiting the dairy superette.
  • Assist customers with product enquiries, purchases and general service requests.
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, process sales transactions, payments, refunds and exchanges accurately.
  • Handle cash and electronic payments while following company cash-handling procedures.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, checking incoming stock and ensuring products are stored correctly.
  • Replenish shelves, maintain product availability and ensure appropriate stock rotation.
  • Assist with regular stock checks and report low stock levels or damaged products to management.
  • Maintain clean, organised and attractive product displays and store presentation standards.
  • Assist with merchandising activities, promotional displays and product placement.
  • Support retail sales of dairy products, convenience items, electronic cigarette and vaping products in accordance with business policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist wholesale operations by preparing customer orders, checking products and supporting stock distribution activities.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and provide information about products and services.
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and refer complex issues to the Retail Manager.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, security requirements and company policies.
  • Assist the Retail Manager and team members with daily operational tasks to ensure smooth store performance.
  • Maintain a positive and welcoming environment to enhance customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Requirements

The successful applicant should have:

  • NZ Register Level 1 qualification or equivalent OR
  • 6 months previous experience in retail, customer service, sales, hospitality or a related field.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform stock handling, shelf replenishment and general retail duties.
  • A positive attitude with a strong focus on customer service.
