We are seeking 2 experienced and motivated Retail Manager to manage our vaping
retail store operations in the Auckland region.
Position Overview
The Retail Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the vaping retail business, including sales performance, customer service, staff management, inventory control, supplier coordination, compliance, and overall store profitability.
The successful candidate will have strong retail management skills, excellent communication abilities and the capability to lead a team while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, direct and coordinate the daily operations of the electronic cigarette and vaping retail store.
- Manage overall store performance, including sales targets, customer service standards, operational efficiency and business growth activities.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to increase revenue, improve customer retention and achieve profitability targets.
- Monitor store financial performance, prepare sales reports, manage budgets and control operating expenses.
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate retail staff to ensure effective performance and excellent customer service delivery.
- Prepare staff rosters, allocate daily duties, monitor attendance and manage employee productivity.
- Maintain strong product knowledge of vaping products, accessories and related retail items to support customer enquiries and sales.
- Manage inventory levels including purchasing, supplier ordering, receiving stock, stock control, stock rotation and regular stocktakes.
- Liaise with suppliers and distributors regarding product availability, pricing, promotions and supply arrangements.
- Monitor customer demand, market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for sales improvement and business development.
- Oversee retail sales transactions, ensuring accurate processing of payments, refunds, exchanges and cash-handling procedures.
- Ensure the store operates in accordance with applicable New Zealand vaping product regulations, company policies and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records relating to sales, inventory, supplier transactions, customer interactions and operational activities.
- Handle complex customer enquiries, complaints and service issues, providing appropriate resolutions.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, merchandising, product displays and promotional activities.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Ensure workplace health and safety standards, privacy requirements, security procedures and company policies are followed.
- Identify opportunities to improve store processes, increase sales performance and enhance customer experience.
Requirements
The successful applicant should have:
- A Diploma Level 5 or higher qualification OR
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail management, sales, customer service, administration or a related field.
- Previous experience managing a retail store or team is preferred.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management and sales processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage staff, suppliers and daily business operations effectively.
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
