CNC Machinist / Operator - Stonemason

Hours: 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $32 - $40 p/h  
  
About Us: Pacific Stone produces quality stone benchtops and surfaces for the residential and commercial market. They have an opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist / Operator to join their team in Tauranga. This role involves programming and operating computer-controlled machines (bridge saws and CNC machining centres) to cut and shape surfaces out of granite, quartz, marble, engineered and natural stone, and porcelain.    
  
About the Role:
  • Programming and Design Interpretation - loading digital CAD/CAM design files (from templating software) to direct the machine's movements.
  • Machine Setup / Operation - loading stone slabs onto the CNC machine.
  • Fabrication Control - monitoring the sawing and cutting process, checking for potential errors.
  • Quality and Safety Control - inspecting finished pieces for precision and quality standards, checking for defects, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting machines, such as replacing worn blades or cleaning components.  
Key Skills Required:
  • Proficiency with CNC machinery, software/ digital technology. 
  • Ideally, an experienced stonemason with working knowledge of CNC Profiling, Bridge Saw, Waterjet operations, and other stone fabrication tools.
  • Ability to work with tight tolerances to ensure high-quality, consistent finished products.
  • An understanding of the properties of different stone types and engineered surfaces would be an advantage.
  • Ability to accurately measure, read, and interpret specifications.
  • CAD and Moraware software knowledge would be highly regarded. 
  • Punctuality and reliability are a must.
  • Health and Safety conscious, with an eye for detail and quality workmanship.
  • Physical fitness is essential for these roles.
  • Able to specify and/or provide evidence of your New Zealand work rights.
