A Customer Support Representative in a dairy store is responsible for providing excellent customer service by assisting customers with product enquiries, processing sales transactions, maintaining attractive product displays, and ensuring dairy products are properly stocked and stored. The role involves handling customer concerns professionally, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, and supporting the smooth daily operation of the store.
Key responsibilities include:
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional assistance.
- Answer customer enquiries regarding dairy products, ingredients, pricing, promotions, and availability.
- Recommend suitable dairy products based on customer preferences and dietary requirements.
- Process customer purchases accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, EFTPOS, and other payment methods while balancing the cash register.
- Receive, unpack, label, and replenish dairy products, ensuring shelves remain fully stocked.
- Monitor product freshness and expiry dates, rotating stock using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Ensure dairy products are stored at the correct refrigeration temperatures in accordance with food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of display cabinets, refrigerators, shelves, and customer service areas.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and escalate complex issues to the Store Manager when required.
- Assist with stock counts, inventory control, and receiving supplier deliveries.
- Support promotional displays and merchandising activities to maximise product sales.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and food handling regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient daily store operations.
Job Requirements
- At least 1–2 years of experience in retail/supermarket/dairy store or Level 4 Qualification.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening abilities.
- Basic knowledge of dairy products and food safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Accuracy in cash handling and transaction processing.
- Ability to monitor stock levels and rotate inventory correctly.
- Ability to lift and move stock safely when required.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
