JOB DESCRIPTION:

• To efficiently and safely carry out all maintenance, remedial and service work, to efficiently carry out fault diagnostics and installation works relating to Air-conditioning and Refrigeration as requested / instructed by your Manager and Service Administrator.
• Enthusiastically facilitate all works in a professional and Tradesman like manner to a level of quality that meets the current industry standards.
• The role requires working unsupervised, or as part of a team, to deliver high quality service.
• The role requires the ability to manage your own time as well as Subcontractors and other staff in order to meet deadlines while working in a safe manner.
• The position requires working flexible hours and availability to work after hours and emergency callout support.
• The Service Technician will continue to champion the continued development and delivery of the Vartech Air’s guiding principles of Safety, Customer satisfaction and high quality of work.

Key tasks include:

• Working from blueprints/design specifications or written instructions to install or repair HVAC systems.
• Using hand and power tools in order to drill holes, install brackets, cutting, bending and threading piping.
• Assemble and install pipe work to connect equipment and ensuring alignment and accuracy of fit.
• Fabricate, assemble and install duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and equipment.
• Install, repair and test various components including, motors, evaporators, switches and gauges, compressors, copper lines for steam, gas refrigerant, compressed air, oil and water.
• Install electrical wiring and controls and test for proper operation.
• Assemble and install pipe work for accurate fit of HVAC system.
• Check existing HVAC systems for leaks and faults and make adjustments where necessary.
• Repairing and maintaining existing HVAC systems by diagnosing faults and repairing or replacing defective parts
• Testing HVAC systems to determine necessary repairs and recording causes of troubleshooting and action taken.
• Maintaining HVAC systems, adjusting controls and mechanisms and re-assembling when necessary.
• Truck refrigeration and automotive air conditioning diagnosing, servicing, repairing and maintaining equipment

• Relevant level 4 qualification or higher OR 3 years relevant work experience
• Excellent communication skills; ability to understand, interpret, and carry out both written and verbal instructions while maintaining a high standard of work
