Advanced Beauty Therapist

Salary: NZD $32.00 – $36.00 per hour (depending on skills, qualifications and experience)

The Beauty Therapist provides professional non-medical beauty therapy services, including advanced skin treatments, cosmetic laser procedures, energy-based skin treatments, and permanent hair removal, in accordance with New Zealand beauty therapy standards, clinic procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.

All duties are cosmetic in nature and performed strictly within the recognised scope of beauty therapy practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct professional client consultations and cosmetic skin assessments.
• Perform advanced non-medical skin treatments using approved beauty therapy equipment.
• Perform cosmetic laser treatments, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments and other light-based aesthetic procedures.
• Perform electrolysis treatments for permanent hair removal.
• Operate energy-based aesthetic devices including Radiofrequency (RF), Plasma, Ultrasound, HIFU and other approved beauty therapy technologies.
• Develop personalised treatment plans and provide pre-treatment and post-treatment care advice.
• Maintain accurate client treatment records and documentation.
• Prepare, clean and maintain treatment rooms, equipment and instruments.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, infection control and workplace health and safety.
• Operate all equipment according to manufacturer instructions and clinic protocols.
• Deliver professional customer service and maintain positive client relationships.
• Work collaboratively with other clinic staff.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Option 1

• At least two years' relevant work experience as a Beauty Therapist performing advanced skin treatments.

OR

Option 2

A recognised qualification, vocational certificate or formal training in Beauty Therapy, Skin Care, Facial Treatments or a closely related field or certification in one or more of the following:

• Cosmetic Laser treatments
• Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments
• Electrolysis for permanent hair removal
• Radiofrequency (RF)
• Plasma technologies
• Ultrasound skin treatment technologies
• HIFU treatment systems
• Needle-free mesotherapy and transdermal serum infusion treatments using non-invasive technologies, where no injectable medicines or prescription-only products are administered.
• Other energy-based aesthetic treatment technologies

Applicants should also demonstrate:

• Practical experience operating cosmetic laser, IPL, electrolysis and energy-based beauty therapy equipment.
• Sound knowledge of cosmetic skin assessment, treatment planning and aftercare.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

All duties are cosmetic and non-medical in nature and do not involve medical diagnosis, medical treatment, prescribing, or registration as a health practitioner under New Zealand legislation.
