Our client is one of New Zealand's most respected industrial engineering businesses, supporting critical industries with specialist mechanical and hydraulic solutions. As demand continues to grow, they're looking for an experienced engineering professional to become the technical face of their Rotorua operation.

This isn't a desk-bound sales role. It's about understanding customer challenges, developing practical engineering solutions, supporting a highly capable workshop team and ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standard.

About the role

You will work closely with customers from initial enquiry through to project completion, becoming their trusted engineering advisor while supporting the workshop to deliver practical, commercially sound solutions.

Your days will include:

• Developing and strengthening relationships with industrial customers

• Visiting client sites to understand equipment, identify issues and recommend practical engineering solutions

• Preparing quotations, scopes of work and cost estimates

• Coordinating projects to ensure work is delivered safely, on time and to specification

• Providing technical guidance to workshop teams across mechanical and hydraulic repairs

• Working alongside the Branch Manager to improve operational performance and identify opportunities for growth

• Helping maintain the high standards of quality and service the business is known for

About you:

You'll already be recognised as someone people turn to for technical advice and practical solutions.

We're interested in people who have:

• A recognised trade qualification in mechanical engineering, fitting, machining or a related engineering discipline

• Strong experience working with heavy mechanical equipment and hydraulic systems

• The confidence to build trusted relationships with customers at every level

• Experience preparing quotations, estimating work or managing engineering projects

• Sound commercial awareness and the ability to balance customer outcomes with business performance

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style

• A genuine commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
