Two specialist engineering opportunities. One outstanding employer.

Not every workshop is the same.

Some are constantly firefighting. Others cut corners to get jobs out the door. This isn't one of them.

Our client is one of New Zealand's most respected industrial engineering businesses, trusted to maintain and manufacture equipment that keeps some of the country's largest industries operating. They invest heavily in their people, workshop and future growth, and as a result, two permanent opportunities have become available for experienced tradespeople who take real pride in their work.

Whether you are an accomplished Fitter Turner ready to lead a team; or a Hydraulic Technician who enjoys solving complex problems, you will be joining a business where quality matters, your experience is valued and you will have the backing of an exceptional team.

Opportunity One

Machine Shop Leading Hand - $48/$50 / hour plus OT

You are more than an experienced machinist. You are the person others naturally turn to when they need advice, when a difficult job lands in the workshop, or when quality simply has to be right.

Working alongside the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will help coordinate daily workflow, support the team, mentor apprentices and ensure every component leaving the workshop meets exacting standards.

You will still spend time on the tools, but you'll also be helping drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement throughout the shop.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter Turner (or equivalent heavy machining background)

  • Five or more years' machining experience

  • Experience mentoring, supervising or leading workshop teams

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and machining specifications

  • A genuine commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

Opportunity Two

Hydraulic Service Technician - $40-$45 / hour plus OT

If fault finding is your strength and you enjoy the challenge of diagnosing hydraulic systems that others can't, this role is worth a look.

You can enjoy working in a modern workshop, repairing and servicing hydraulic equipment used throughout heavy industry.

No two days are the same - rebuild cylinders, overhaul pumps and motors, diagnose faults and deliver practical engineering solutions that keep customers operating.

About you:

  • Mechanical trade qualification

  • Proven hydraulic service and repair experience

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability

  • Confidence reading hydraulic schematics

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach

We're interested in people who care about doing the job properly. People who take pride in their workmanship. People who enjoy being part of a close-knit team and aren't afraid to roll their sleeves up when the workload demands it.

If you are, technically capable and looking for a long-term opportunity with a business that's continuing to invest and grow, we'd like to hear from you.
