Heaven Orchards Limited is on the lookout for practical, hands-on Maintenance & Development Technicians (4) to take ownership of the role across our newly developed and existing, high-tech orchard blocks. Based in the Bay of Plenty, this full-time role is vital in keeping our Kiwifruit Orchards thriving through smart water and nutrient delivery and proactive maintenance of critical systems. The role is a minimum of 30 hours per week, but will generally be 40 hours per week.

Currently, Heaven Orchards operates 108ha of existing sites, with a further 10ha purchased for development.

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assist in structure maintenance: repair posts, wires and other infrastructure
  • Operate task-specific tools and light equipment for maintenance and upkeep 
  • Perform support tasks such as spraying, mulching, mowing, weed control, and irrigation checks as required for the worksite.
  • Repairing sprinkler systems and broken pipe fittings using hand tools.
  • Repairing canopies, wires, and posts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and completing simple building repairs, yards, and fences for all existing buildings/coolstores/storage facilities.
  • Assist in the development of a new 10ha site, including associated earthworks, placement and erection of the planned site infrastructure under the guidance and direction of the site Manager.
  • Report hazards, infrastructure damage, or operational issues to the Site Manager 
  • Comply with all health and safety, biosecurity, and operational guidelines
  • Operating relevant machines/equipment safely and reporting any issues accordingly.

What We're Looking For

·         Experience with large-scale horticulture development and operations

·         Experience with horticultural applications and fertigation will be viewed favourably.

·         Keep work areas tidy and hazard-free

·         Report incidents or risks promptly

·         Ability to work independently

·         Minimum 6 months of relevant practical experience

About us

We are a large horticulture grower/operator within the Bay of Plenty region, looking to expand our team to be able to continue to maintain and grow our horticultural operations.

We operate Monday – Sunday between the hours of 7:30am – 7:00pm, with some of the work being weather dependent.
