Fabricator

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fabricator to join our team in Christchurch. This is an immediate-start role, and we're keen to move quickly for the right person.

You must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the structural steel industry and understand structural steel drawings  and have the ability to work independently, but also able to work as part of a team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

• Minimum 3 years experience in the structural steel industry, specifically heavy fabrication
• An ability to interpret and understand structural steel drawings
• Fabricating/Welding and assembly as per shop drawings and relevant procedures
• Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do the job
• Assist in squaring up and welding various geometries of components
• Understand various weld symbols on drawings
• Fit up and working with welders where required
• Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
• Good understanding of English - written, verbal and reading
• Competent in using overhead gantry crane
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Be able to take direction and constructive criticism from peers
• Display initiative and ability to work independently, but also able to work as part of a team
• Ability to weld (advantageous)
