​​Job Description

  • Developing detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics for mechanical engineering projects under the supervision of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists
  • Supporting Mechanical Engineers and Technologists in the conceptual design and development of mechanical equipment and production facilities
  • Identifying and specifying appropriate tools, machinery, and equipment for project requirements
  • Fabricating, assembling, and commissioning new or upgraded mechanical components, assemblies, machine tools, control systems, and hydraulic units
  • Calculating material needs, estimating costs, and determining machining and production capacity requirements
  • Planning, conducting, and overseeing experimental testing in both field and laboratory environments
  • Gathering and interpreting technical data, executing advanced calculations, and producing accurate technical illustrations
  • Coordinating and managing routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance of plant machinery and equipment
  • Verifying that all design outputs and completed work comply with applicable standards, codes, regulations, and contractual obligations
  • Carrying out functional evaluations of mechanical systems, processing test results, and assisting in the assembly and installation of mechanical subsystems under engineering guidance
  • Undertaking additional tasks and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management

More details about the position

  • Location: Hastings
  • Job type: Full-time Permanent
  • Pay rate: 28.00- 35.00 New Zealand dollars per hour
  • Days required: Monday to Saturday (rosters may apply).
  • Hours per week: At least 30

Job Requirement

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, or a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification), or a bachelor degree in any discipline is required.
