Position Summary
The Cleaning Site Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating cleaning activities on residential and commercial renovation projects. The role ensures all completed renovation sites are cleaned, inspected, and prepared to a high standard before handover to clients. The position also oversees cleaning staff, coordinates daily work schedules, ensures compliance with health and safety requirements, and maintains quality standards across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of site cleaning staff across multiple renovation projects.
- Plan, allocate and monitor daily cleaning tasks to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Conduct inspections of completed cleaning work to ensure company quality standards and client expectations are met.
- Liaise with project managers, builders, tilers, painters and other trades to coordinate cleaning activities during and after renovation works.
- Ensure renovated properties are ready for practical completion, client inspections and final handover.
- Monitor staff attendance, productivity and work performance.
- Train and mentor new cleaning employees on company procedures, safe work practices and quality standards.
- Ensure staff use appropriate cleaning methods, equipment and chemicals.
- Identify defects, hazards or incomplete work and report them promptly to management.
- Maintain records of completed work, inspection reports and site checklists.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained, stored safely and used correctly.
- Monitor cleaning materials and arrange replacement supplies when required.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and company health and safety policies.
- Conduct regular toolbox meetings and promote safe working practices on all sites.
- Ensure all waste is disposed of appropriately and renovation sites remain clean, organised and environmentally compliant.
- Assist with resolving client concerns relating to final site presentation and cleanliness.
- Travel between project sites as required throughout Auckland and occasionally outside Auckland.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant should have:
- At least two years’ relevant experience in construction site cleaning, commercial cleaning or renovation site operations; or
- A relevant Level 4 qualification or higher.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and coordinating staff.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Good understanding of construction or renovation site operations.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence (preferred).

Physical Requirements
The role involves regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying cleaning equipment and working across active renovation sites. Applicants must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks safely.
Health and Safety
Employees must comply with all company policies, site-specific safety requirements and relevant New Zealand legislation. The Cleaning Site Supervisor is expected to actively promote safe work practices, identify hazards and ensure all team members follow established safety procedures.
Employment Conditions
- Permanent full-time position.
- Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week.
- Overtime may be required depending on project workload.
- Work will be performed at various client sites throughout Auckland and occasionally outside Auckland.
- Appropriate PPE and required equipment will be provided by the employer.
