We are hiring Building Associate for NEWTECH HOMES LIMITED a well-established construction limited located in Christchurch. Now We are currently seeking skilled Building Associate to join our growing team.

● Days required: 5-6 days/week
● Hours per week: min 30, max 60 hours per week
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Coordinate and support residential and commercial construction projects to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project programmes.
• Assist in planning construction schedules, workflow sequencing, labour allocation, and resource utilisation across multiple building activities.
• Coordinate and oversee daily site operations, ensuring construction activities progress according to project requirements and deadlines.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation to support construction planning and quality control.
• Monitor carpentry and general building activities, including wall framing, roofing structures, flooring systems, cladding, cabinetry installation, formwork, and finishing works, to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate subcontractors, carpenters, apprentices, suppliers, and material deliveries to maintain efficient site operations.
• Conduct routine site inspections and quality assurance checks to identify defects, monitor workmanship, and ensure compliance with New Zealand Building Code requirements.
• Assist site managers with construction planning, procurement, material scheduling, and project coordination.
• Monitor site progress and prepare reports regarding productivity, quality, labour requirements, material usage, and project milestones.
• Liaise with site managers, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders regarding construction activities and project requirements.
• Support procurement activities including material ordering, inventory monitoring, and supplier coordination.
• Assist in estimating labour requirements, construction resources, material quantities, and project timelines.
• Monitor compliance with workplace health and safety procedures and ensure site personnel follow safe work practices.
• Assist with project handovers, final inspections, defect identification, and rectification processes.
• Provide technical guidance and practical support to site teams based on previous construction and carpentry experience.
• Carry out some construction and maintenance activities where necessary to support project delivery.
Job Requirement
•NZQF Diploma or equivalent qualification in Building, Carpentry, Construction Management, Building Technology, or related field; OR a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in construction, building Coordination, site supervision, or a related occupation.
• Previous experience working in residential or commercial construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Experience coordinating construction activities, subcontractors, or building teams.
• Understanding of construction sequencing, quality assurance procedures, and health and safety requirements.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining site documentation and project records.
• Ability to work effectively with site managers, tradespeople, suppliers, and clients.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently.
• Clean criminal record.
