We are a busy horticulture business and we are seeking to employ full time Site Managers to join our team.

Position Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day operations of kiwifruit orchard activities, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company and orchard management standards. The Site Manager is responsible for managing staff, coordinating orchard operations, achieving productivity targets, and acting as the key link between field staff and company management.
Orchard Operations
● Plan, coordinate, and manage all orchard activities including pruning, winter work, bud thinning, flower work, girdling, tying down, summer maintenance, harvesting, and other seasonal orchard operations.
● Ensure all work is completed according to company requirements and industry standards.
● Monitor orchard productivity and implement strategies to improve efficiency and work quality.
● Coordinate labour requirements to meet operational and seasonal demands.
● Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality and productivity targets are achieved.
● Ensure all equipment, vehicles, machinery, and tools are maintained and used correctly.
● Identify and report orchard, crop, equipment, or operational issues to management.
● Maintain accurate records of work completed and site performance.
● Ensure all produce is handled appropriately to maintain quality standards and market requirements.
Management & Operational Coordination
● Liaise regularly with Directors, Operations Managers, Orchard Managers, and other management personnel regarding work programmes, labour requirements, and operational performance.
● Communicate daily site progress, productivity results, and workforce requirements to management.
● Ensure all instructions and operational plans provided by management are implemented effectively on-site.
● Provide regular feedback to management regarding staffing levels, productivity, quality, and health and safety matters.
● Report orchard issues, equipment concerns, and operational risks to management promptly.
● Assist management with workforce planning and resource allocation across orchard sites.
● Ensure all company policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed by staff.
● Maintain accurate operational records and provide reports as required by management.
Staff Management & Leadership
● Manage team leaders, supervisors, and orchard workers on-site.
● Allocate daily tasks and ensure staff understand work requirements, productivity expectations, and quality standards.
● Recruit, induct, train, and develop staff as required.
● Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and support where necessary.
● Manage staff attendance, timesheets, and workforce scheduling.
● Motivate and lead staff to achieve productivity and quality targets.
● Resolve workplace issues and maintain a positive and productive team culture.
● Conduct regular toolbox meetings and staff briefings.
● Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained across all assigned orchard sites.
Health, Safety & Compliance
● Ensure all staff comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and company health and safety policies.
● Conduct site hazard assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
● Deliver health and safety inductions and ongoing training for employees.
● Investigate and report incidents, accidents, injuries, and near misses.
● Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available, maintained, and used correctly.
● Maintain all health and safety documentation and records.
● Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all orchard operations.
● Ensure compliance with all relevant industry, company, and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Requirements:
● You will have at least 2 years of work experience in a similar field or a tertiary level qualification
● Excellent organisation skills
● Ready to do pre-employment drug testing if needed
● Excellent work ethic
● Physical fitness
● Ability to work in the weekends and public holidays during busy periods
You will be paid $32.00 per hour and will be guaranteed 30 hours per week minimum.
