We are looking for multiple Excavator Operators with a good and reliable attitude towards work and great references. You will be completing various earthmoving duties including operating plant to excavate earth, ore, and rock, break up pavement, road, rock, and obstructions, move and load earth, rock and debris, and level, smooth and compact surfaces in construction and other projects.

About you:

Successful candidates must be a NZ citizen or resident and have at least 1 year full-time excavator operator work experience on commercial or civil projects.

Duties include:

•    Preparing and positioning plant for operation
•    Selecting, fitting and removing attachments for various tasks
•    Operating controls to excavate, break, level, compact, gouge out, move, load and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil and other materials
•    Monitoring operation of plant and adjusting controls to regulate pressure, speed and flow of operation, and ensuring safety of other workers
•    Raising, lowering and manipulating attachments using manual and hydraulic controls
•    Working from drawings, markers and verbal instructions
•    Servicing, lubricating, cleaning and refuelling plant and performing minor adjustments and repairs
•    May operate other civil machines/vehicles and perform manual labouring 
•    Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Franklin Smith policies and relevant legislation. 
•    Other duties as reasonably required within the capability of the employee’s role may also be required from time to time.

The ideal candidate will also have:

- Two contactable references.
- Been able to pass police check and drug test.
- A valid driver license, class 2 or higher.

About the role:

- Minimum 30 hours per week.

- Hourly wage ranging from $27.50 - $35.00.

- Permanent role – Monday to Friday, with extra shifts available on weekends.

- As part of your employment, you may be required to travel to a different region for a different project, including, Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Marlborough, Waikato, Wellington, Otago, Nelson, Tasman, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Northland, West Coast, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne, Southland.

- You will be given reasonable notice if you are required to relocate to another region. Franklin Smith will cover transportation and accommodation expenses related to the relocation.
