Markand Corporation Limited is seeking three experienced Store Managers to plan, organise, direct, control, and coordinate the operations of our retail stores. The successful candidates will operate with delegated authority and accountability for the commercial performance of the stores, including profitability, budgeting, purchasing, pricing, marketing, staffing, and compliance.
Job Description
The Store Manager will be responsible for independently managing the day-to-day operations of the retail store, ensuring efficient business performance, strong customer service, and achievement of sales and profitability targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Retail Operations

Plan, organise, direct, and coordinate all aspects of store operations.

Develop and implement business plans, sales strategies, and operational objectives.

Monitor store performance and implement improvements to achieve business goals.
Purchasing and Inventory
-
Determine product range based on customer demand and business needs.

Purchase stock, manage supplier relationships, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Conduct regular stocktakes and oversee inventory control.
Pricing and Marketing
-
Set and review product pricing, promotions, and discount strategies.

Plan and implement marketing campaigns and promotional activities to increase sales.

Evaluate promotional performance and make improvements where required.
Staff Management

Determine staffing requirements and assist with recruitment and training.

Supervise, support, and evaluate staff performance.
-
Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure efficient store operations.
Customer Service

Maintain high customer service standards.

Resolve customer enquiries and complaints professionally.

Ensure customers receive quality products and excellent service.
Financial and Compliance

Manage store budgets, control operating costs, and maintain financial records.

Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and health and safety requirements.

Implement security, loss prevention, and risk management procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
-
A minimum of 2 years' relevant retail management or supervisory experience, or
-
A New Zealand Level 4 qualification or higher (or equivalent).
Applicants must also demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a retail store effectively.
Other Requirements

Ability to pass a character check.

May be required to pass a drug and alcohol test.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
