Position Summary

As a Gib Fixer, you will assist with the installation of plasterboard (GIB®) wall and ceiling
linings in residential and commercial buildings. This is an entry-level position where full
on-the-job training will be provided. The successful applicant will be willing to learn,
physically fit, reliable, and committed to producing quality workmanship while working safely
as part of a team.

Minimum Requirements:

  •  Physically fit and willing to learn
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record
  • Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.  Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on project demands.

Skills and Experience

No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided. However, the successful
applicant should demonstrate:

  • Basic numeracy and the ability to follow instructions.

Physical Requirements

This role involves physical work and requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry plasterboard sheets and construction materials.
  • Stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead.
  • Work in a range of indoor and outdoor construction environments.
  • Perform repetitive manual handling tasks throughout the workday.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with measuring, cutting, lifting, and installing plasterboard sheets.
  • Carry and move plasterboard and other building materials around worksites.
  • Learn to install wall and ceiling linings under the guidance of experienced team
    members.
  • Help prepare work areas and materials before installation.
  • Assist with cutting openings for windows, doors, electrical outlets, and other fixtures.
  • Secure plasterboard using appropriate fixings and tools.
  • Help clean and maintain worksites, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced Gib Fixers.
  • Work alongside other construction trades to help projects run smoothly.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures and use personal protective
    equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Complete other general labouring and construction duties as reasonably required.
