THP Inc Ltd is a New Zealand manufacturer and supplier of LED road-lighting solutions for transport infrastructure projects in New Zealand and Australia. We work with transport authorities, engineering consultants, contractors and local councils to deliver reliable products that meet project specifications and relevant New Zealand standards.

To support continued growth, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to assist with the mechanical design documentation, manufacture, assembly, testing, inspection and installation verification of our road-lighting products.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will provide practical technical support to THP's engineering and manufacturing teams. The work covers mechanical components such as luminaire housings, mounting brackets, heat-dissipation components and related assemblies. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and update mechanical engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), assembly instructions, manufacturing documents and technical records under the direction of Mechanical Engineers or Engineering Technologists.

· Assist with the preparation, modification and verification of mechanical components and assemblies, including the selection of suitable materials, fabrication methods, tools and components.

· Assemble, fit, inspect and install prototype and production mechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, specifications and company procedures.

· Estimate material quantities and support prototype, production and manufacturing preparation activities.

· Conduct workshop, prototype and field tests; collect and analyse test data; and prepare clear technical and verification reports.

· Inspect manufactured components and completed assemblies to confirm compliance with drawings, specifications, applicable standards and customer requirements.

· Investigate mechanical faults and support practical improvements to product quality, assembly methods and manufacturing efficiency.

· Maintain accurate engineering, inspection and test records, and comply with workplace health and safety and company quality procedures.

Minimum Requirements

· A relevant NZQF Level 6 diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a comparable overseas qualification.

· Practical experience or substantial project-based exposure in mechanical engineering support, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, inspection or testing.

· Ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.

· Working knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, including sheet-metal or aluminium fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly.

· Ability to use precision measuring instruments and conduct accurate mechanical inspections.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills, with careful attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an engineering and manufacturing team.

Desirable Experience

· LED lighting products, road lighting or transport infrastructure projects.

· Mechanical product manufacturing, prototype assembly, testing, quality assurance or commissioning.

· Manufacturing documentation and technical reporting.
