We are calling for energetic, responsible, and reliable people who enjoy working with children and young people aged 4–17 years across the Wellington Region.

Pride Lands is seeking Casual Minibus Drivers & Youth Mentors to support the safe transportation of Tamariki and Rangatahi throughout Lower Hutt and Wellington City.

This role is more than driving. We are looking for positive role models who can build strong relationships with young people, encourage school attendance and participation, and help create a safe, supportive environment during transport.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Passenger (P) Endorsement strongly preferred.
  • Current First Aid Certificate preferred.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Respect for people from all cultures, backgrounds, and identities.
  • The ability to work positively with both neurodivergent and neurotypical children.
  • A clean Police Vet and the ability to pass all required Children's Worker Safety Checks.

 

About the Role

  • Casual work available 7 days per week from October 2026.
  • Transporting children and young people to schools, programmes, activities, and appointments.
  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor for tamariki and rangatahi.
  • Encouraging school attendance, participation, and positive engagement.
  • Routes may operate throughout Lower Hutt, Wellington City, or both.

 

Passenger (P) Endorsement

A Passenger (P) Endorsement is strongly preferred and applicants who already hold one will be viewed favourably.

 

Pride Lands holds the required Small Passenger Service Licence (SPSL), so drivers do not need to obtain this themselves.

 

Don't currently have a P Endorsement?

If you're interested in this role, you can apply for a Passenger (P) Endorsement through NZ Transport Agency (NZTA). This generally requires:

  • Holding a Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Completing a Passenger Endorsement application.
  • Passing a fit and proper person assessment, including criminal and driving history checks.
  • Providing proof of identity and any required medical certification.

 

If your Passenger (P) Endorsement expires while employed by Pride Lands, we may assist with the renewal process and associated costs.
