Slaughter Labourer

Crusader Meats NZ Ltd is a progressive Meat Export Company located just out of Benneydale. We have an excellent reputation for quality and service.

We have 20-30 vacancies for reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking people to join our team as Labourers in our Slaughter room.

Applicants must be physically fit to satisfy the demands of the position. In return we offer benefits above legislation entitlements for qualifying employees.

This is a full-time fixed term position during our peak season commencing in November 2026 and ending in April/May 2027. A minimum of 60 hours per fortnight is guaranteed and successful applicants will be remunerated between $23.95 - $30 per hour depending on skill and previous training/experience.

The duties include but are not limited to:

• Processing offal and packaging
• Processing and packaging meat
• Moving carcasses to chillers and freezers
• Removing wool and cleaning carcasses
• Clean and sanitise equipment and work areas
• Collect and remove bins containing bones
• Prepare and line cartons to meet EU standards
• Tubing, packing and scanning products

The right candidate must:

• Hold a current New Zealand driver's licence or an equivalent International License and have a reliable vehicle. Be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Have at least 3 seasons of relevant work experience as a Labourer, Factory Worker, Cleaner or related field in the past 6 years, preferably in the meat industry.
• Be able to speak and understand spoken and written English
• The candidate should have an understanding of industry hygiene standards, biosecurity protocols and food safety regulations.

Normal hours of work for these positions are Monday to Friday 6.50am to 5:30pm, with some Saturday work required over peak season.
