First Construction Limited based in Queenstown, is specialised in residential construction and renovation projects. We are looking for five Carpenters to join our awesome team. 

You will be expected to work at different sites throughout the Otago region. The role guarantees a minimum of 30 hours per week, typically from Monday to Friday. You may also be required to work on Saturdays, with total working hours up to a maximum of 60 hours per week. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $28.00-$35.00 based on the candidates' experience and skills.

Job Description for This Position

  • Studying drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures

  • Ordering and selecting timbers and materials, and preparing layouts

  • Cutting materials, and assembling and nailing cut and shaped parts

  • Erecting framework, panelised systems and roof framing, laying sub-flooring and floorboards and verifying trueness of structures

  • Nailing fascia panels, sheathing roofs, and fitting exterior wall cladding and door and window frames

  • Assembling prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready to install

  • Cutting wood joints

  • May repair existing fittings

  • May work with plastic laminates, perspex and metals

  • Any other duties assigned by the employer

Key Requirements for Successful Applicants

  • At least a Level 4 qualification or above in construction fields, OR at least two years of work experience as carpenter or construction worker or similar is required.

  • Punctual and reliable with a positive can-do attitude will be key in this role

  • Be physically fit as the job involves heavy lifting.

  • A positive and willing attitude to learn and progress. 

  • Able to work with deadlines and schedules, and available to work weekends if required.
