Based in Auckland, New Zealand, we are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join our team and contribute to a variety of construction and scaffolding projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, be familiar with various building materials, and possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on-site.
Core Carpentry Skills
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials accurately.
- Construct frameworks and structures such as walls, floors, and roofs.
- Install fixtures, fittings, and cabinetry with precision and attention to detail.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings effectively.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations throughout projects.
Project Management & Collaboration
- Coordinate with other tradespeople to ensure project timelines are met.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and clients regarding project progress.
- Assist in planning and estimating material requirements for projects.
- Participate in site meetings to discuss project updates and challenges.
- Provide training and mentorship to apprentices and junior carpenters.
Tools & Equipment
- Proficient in using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and saws.
- Experience with power tools including drills, nail guns, and sanders.
- Knowledge of scaffolding equipment and safety measures.
- Ability to operate machinery like forklifts and scissor lifts when necessary.
- Familiarity with measuring tools like tape measures, squares, and levels.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Conduct regular safety checks on tools and equipment to ensure functionality.
- Participate in safety training sessions and workshops as required.
- Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
