The Field Services Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of electronic security systems for residential and commercial clients. The role covers the installation and servicing of access control systems, CCTV, intruder alarms, intercom systems, electronic locking devices, and automated gate systems as part of integrated security solutions.

About the role

Wind Mill Limited is seeking an experienced Field Services Technician to join our growing team. This role provides consistent work installing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing electronic security systems for residential and commercial clients across multiple Auckland sites, depending on project requirements. The work spans CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, intercom systems, electronic locking, and automated gate systems as part of integrated security solutions. The position is suited to a capable, self-directed technician with proven practical experience who can work independently across multiple sites and deliver complete, end-to-end results.

What We Offer

  • Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Competitive remuneration: NZD $30 – $38 per hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time, Permanent
  • PPE and essential tools supplied

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission electronic security systems, including CCTV, intruder alarms, access control, and intercom systems
  • Install and integrate electronic locking devices, card readers, biometric and keypad access systems, and related security hardware
  • Install and commission automated gate systems — electronic and automation components only, including motors and actuators, controllers, safety sensors, wiring into access control, programming, and testing
  • Diagnose faults and repair, replace, and adjust defective electronic components, wiring, control boards, and sensors
  • Test, calibrate, and commission systems, and program user access, remote monitoring, and integrated system controls
  • Install low-voltage cabling and carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and system upgrades
  • Interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams, and provide technical advice and user training to clients

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the electrical or electronic industry
  • Experience in construction and/or interior fit-out projects
  • Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • A current full driver’s licence, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Physically fit, reliable, and committed to high health and safety standards
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality workmanship
  • Willing and able to work weekends when required, outside normal hours, and to travel between client sites across Auckland and, where required, other regions of New Zealand

Certifications

  • Relevant trade certificates or licences are welcome but not essential, including overseas qualifications
