Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week
Hourly Rate: NZD $30.00–$35.00 per hour (depending on skills and experience)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine tiling layouts and project requirements.
• Measure and prepare wall and floor surfaces by cleaning, levelling, waterproofing, and repairing substrates before tile installation.
• Remove existing wall and floor coverings where required.
• Cut, shape, and fit ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite, mosaic, natural stone, and other tiles using hand and power tools.
• Mix and apply adhesives, mortar, grout, and other bonding materials.
• Lay and align wall and floor tiles to achieve accurate spacing, patterns, levels, and high-quality finishes.
• Install feature walls, decorative tiles, borders, splashbacks, and mosaic designs.
• Apply grout, sealants, and finishing materials, and clean completed tiled surfaces.
• Install waterproofing systems in wet areas in accordance with New Zealand building standards and project specifications.
• Repair and replace damaged or broken tiles when required.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company quality standards and client specifications.
• Estimate material requirements and minimise material wastage.
• Operate and maintain tiling tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, clients, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Perform other tiling-related duties as reasonably required by the employer.

Skills and Experience

• A New Zealand Level 4 qualification (or overseas equivalent) in Wall and Floor Tiling or a related trade; or
• At least 2-3 of relevant work experience in relevant field.
• Have sound knowledge of tiling materials, waterproofing systems, adhesives, and installation techniques.
• Be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Be physically fit and capable of performing manual work.
• Have excellent time management and communication skills.
• Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Hold a current full driver's licence (preferred but not essential).
